Introduction

Hello everyone!

I decided to start writing on here because I am sick and tired of only seeing the most beautiful and fancy posts on social media. Although those are fun to look at once in a while, I certainly can not relate to them and they create an unrealistic scale for the average person. I am an average 26 year old girl living in New England. I love with my wife, dog, two cats and three…

Candle Magick

Remember blowing out your candles on your birthday and making a wish?!

Guess what you were practicing candle magick!

Candle rituals can be as simple as that. Close your eyes, state your desire and visualize what you want coming true

You can make it as simple or as complex as you wish.

I’ve found the more energy I put into my candle magick, the greater the return!

  • I start by setting my intent and choosing a candle the color correspondence. For example if I am casting a spell involving love, ❤️ I use a red candle.
  • Carve or write the intent on the candle.
  • “Anoint” the candle with oil and bless the candle that it may help you find the answers or that your will be done (I like using essential oils for this that match my intention)
  • I then rub the candle with herbs and flowers I sometimes heat the candle allowing the herbs and flowers to stick to the candle. Decorate the candle with ribbons and charms (you know, craft day it up!) REMEMBER: the energy and passion you put into your craft is rewarded
  • If I’m going to read my wax for the answers I seek I burn my candle on a ritual plate to collect the wax. I rarely ever burn my candles on candle holders. (Please see previous post on Candle Wax Meanings) I adhere the candle by melting the bottom slightly and pressing it into the plate and make a ring of salt around the candle

Now I spend time in meditation, clearing my mind of all that does not benefit me. I say another blessing over the candle as I light it. I envision my intentions coming to be. I let my candles burn till they extinguish themselves because I read the wax. But if you feel your spell is complete and your intentions have been achieved, you can blow out your candle and again envision your intentions coming to be, and thanking the Gods and Goddesses for their time.

This 👇is a meditation/healing candle I burned to work through some personal struggles I was going through. 🌹

How I set up my alter for candle magick

image

I arrange offerings and incense around my candle as well as element representations. A feather for air, a seashell for water, a rock for the earth, the flame of my candle represents fire and the smoke from my incense represents spirit.

I bless you and your future casting. May the Gods and Goddesses bless you for all your days 💜

Blessed Be 🔮🌙

Thoughts on Circle Casting

Casting a circle is the act of setting up a temporary protective space for a spell or ritual. This circle acts as a psychic bubble, which is not visible to the naked eye, though it is felt energetically. The circle is said to be present in different astral planes as well as our own. Generally, the circle will be cast at the beginning of the rite, and then released at the end.

So why cast a circle? There can be many distractions from the real world that can interfere with magick spells and rituals. These can present themselves in the form of entities or another’s energies as an example. Trance work may also be done in a protective circle because it leaves the practitioner psychically vulnerable to other influences. Another reason for circle casting is the focused energy. Many spells require a focused stream of energy, and a circle can help deflect energies given off by the spell back into it, and to hold onto that energy for a longer time. According to Grove and Grotto, “We can summarize all this by saying a magick circle has two main purposes: To keep disturbances out, and to keep the energy of the ritual in.” As important as circle casting is to magick, it is not technically necessary as many traditions do not use a circle at all. Norse, Egyptian, and Shamanic religions never work with a circle, and they are fine without one. It seems that the extra protection of a circle is something that is up to the user.

The tradition of circle casting comes from the western ceremonial magick traditions, sometimes called Solomonic Magick. The circle in this tradition was originally thought to keep entities like demons and angels out, and to strengthen the relationship with God within its protective boundaries. Among Wiccans and others who practice the craft, a circle may not be needed for small things like meditations or offerings. Instead they choose to use a circle for extra protection during larger spells and rites for an extra layer of protection.

Some witches experience a sensation similar to a circle casting itself when focused on their aura or a personal shield. The auras of many people can also conglomerate into one giant circle-like experience if everyone is working with the same energy. It is almost as if the energy of many people come together and creates its own magickal circle.

So how does one cast a circle? This is something that can be done in many ways, and is often left up to the user. All methods of casting a circle do require visualization, concentration, and a commitment to making a real energy circle. In traditional practice, there are two parts to circle casting: casting the circle, and calling the quarters. Casting the circle is done by directing energy at the ground, and walking in a clockwise direction around the circle. Energy can be directed by pointing a finger, using an athame or wand, or any other way. Often, the caster will walk the circle three times to represent the three aspects of the Goddess and God, visualizing the boundary getting stronger and stronger each pass. The quarters are the four elements, and during the circle casting these are called to aid in the protection and magickal workings that will go on inside. Each cardinal direction represents and element and it is traditional to start in the east with air, south for fire, west for water, and finally north for earth. The movement of calling the quarters and casting the circle is the same, moving in a deosil direction. Both of these aspects of circle casting are highly personalized, so it is important to practice and find the way that is best for you.

Closing a circle is just as important as opening the circle. The closing allows pent up energies from the spell or ritual that was stuck in the circle to dissipate. This can happen either as a slow fade, or as a short rush of energy, depending on how the circle is taken down. It is typically advised to use the same method as the circle casting for the circle closing, but in the opposite direction. Failing to close a circle may have a few negative effects. An unclosed circle can be used as a portal for which an entity might travel through, and it could also create a less than desirable effect from your spell or ritual. Circles left unclosed may dissipate over time just through foot traffic, but it is still important to close them for the best protection.

🌟 What is moon water, what does it do, and how do I make my own? 🌙

Moon water is simply what it sounds like — water that has been charged under the light of the moon.

Moon water can serve a variety of different purposes in witchcraft.

  • Drink it. Imagine or speak your intention while drinking your moon water. You can drink it just as it is, or even make tea or coffee with it! Whatever suits you.
  • Bathe in it. Use a splash of moon water in a ritual bath. You can also use it to bathe your crystals, but be mindful of which crystals are not water safe!
  • Create with it. Paint a watercolor picture, make some cleansing spray, get creative!
  • Use it for spell work. Substitute your moon water for regular water any time a spell calls for a little H2O.

To make your own moon water, all you need is a glass container with a lid, filtered water, and a full moon. Cleanse your container with incense or a bell. Fill it with filtered water. Wait until the sun sets and the moon rises and place your water outside (or in a window sill if you aren’t able to put it safely outside). Take a few minutes to set your intentions under the light of the moon, and thank the moon for her energy. It’s best to retrieve your moon water before the sun rises so it doesn’t touch the sunlight, but it isn’t the end of the world if you don’t make it up in time. And voila! You have your very own charged moon water for whatever you’d like to us it!
